Hello!

My name is Mackenzie Tidey, and I am a Registered Social Worker with the OCSWSSW. I hold an Honours Bachelors in Social Work degree from Laurentian University, and I am actively enrolled in the Masters of Social Work program with the University of Waterloo. I have experience working directly with children, adolescents, individuals, and families within community mental health and clinical settings. I primarily work with children and adolescents from the ages of 5+, as well as individuals and families.

I have experience supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, grief, self-esteem, emotional regulation challenges, and emotional processing. I have training using aspects of Mindfulness and Arts Based Therapy, Somatics, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and aspects of the Play Therapy - Tools for Helping Children training through the Crisis and Trauma Resource Institute. Play is the primary form of communication for young children. I frequently use aspects of Play and Arts Based Therapy in sessions through non-directive and directive approaches to support children in fostering emotional regulation and processing skills, emotional literacy, skill-building, and resiliency.

I am committed to creating a safe, comfortable, and holistic space with you to support you in your journey. I believe that compassion, empathy, and empowerment are core foundations to the therapeutic process, as well as collaboration in creating a treatment plan that you feel best fits. They say it takes a village to raise a child, but it truly takes a village to support a child to thrive, which is why I work collaboratively with parents and families in order to best support the child. I recognize how much courage it takes to reach out for support, and I look forward to supporting you, or your child, on your journey.
